Artist of the Month
Next up for the Artist of the Month we have JAVAX! This guy is a personal friend of mine and he is so motivated and passionate about his music and its super inspiring to see. He mainly dabbles in the trap scene but has done future bass before but isnt tied down by any genres, he likes to keep it fresh and different. Pretty much anything that bangs though. Not only does he make some wicked music though his live sets are slapping, the rails were literally breaking when I saw him at Printworks. You can get a good idea from his mini-mix. Aside from all the music he's a pretty solid guy who is full of support and motivation, actually helped me push to even start Disguised! He's definitely up and coming, and has big things ahead of him so I'd recommend you start following him like now!
So tell us a bit about your history, how long have you been producing?
I’ve been producing on and off for 12 years. I used to make harder electro house, progressive house under different names and then took a break. I found my way over to the more chill side of trap 5 years ago and taken it more seriously in the last 3 to a more aggressive sound.
I feel you have managed to define a unique sound for yourself, how would you describe your music?
In one word, “energetic”. It best describes me as a person and my music is basically a representation of me. Going forward though incorporating melodies is important rather than just hard bangers.
It’s been a while since your last release, do you have anything in the works, can we expect something soon?
I’ve been locked away in the studio for recent months building my vault of tracks to release for 2020. It’s been a busy time to say the least so thank you to those for being patient!
Recently you’ve been playing some big shows, like the Dark Room at Printworks then soon you’re headlining the Baby Box at Ministry of Sound!
Will you be playing more shows next year?
Printworks was insane! Super excited for Ministry supporting Malaa & Habstrakt, massive shoutout to Relentless Events for having me! Next year more shows are coming though I can’t speak about them just yet.
If you could choose anyone, who would you most like to collab with?
JOYRYDE, his vision, energy and capability to keep you on your toes constantly is something I draw into my own productions.
Who would you say inspires and influences your music?
I love a wide range of genres, Trance, house, progressive, techno, drum n bass, dubstep - anything electronic. My inspirations mainly draw from my internal library music I’ve listened to over the decades.
Is there a usual spot where inspiration comes to you for a track?
This happens all the time anywhere in the most random places but if I had to pick one spot, it’d be the shower. I have no idea why but I’ll be humming melodies or beat boxing ideas for a drop.
What do you do when you need a break from music?
Spend time with friends and family. I’m huge into motorcycles so going for a ride and getting out of my environment helps clear my mind. Gym and video games help as a nice creative break as well, addicted to Forza Horizon 4!
Since Christmas is soon upon us, what is your favourite part about it?
Having friends and family together to enjoy the day with is special enough. Presents are fun but it’s not what it’s about, coming together to have a nice meal, enjoy each others company and a laugh is what it’s about.
What’s your favourite track right now?
“92 Thing - Eli Brown”
I’ve recently discovered Eli Brown, the man is a magician so I’ve been on him for the past month.
